DuoTech Ex accelerometers obtain QPS certification for hazardous environments

SPM Instrument is pleased to announce that the DuoTech Ex accelerometers have obtained QPS safety certification for vibration measurement also in the most explosive atmospheres (Class 1 Divison 1/Zone 0), making them eligible for use in North America.

The QPS certificate of compliance, issued by Canadian certification body QPS Evaluation Services Inc., is applicable for land-based installations in potentially explosive atmospheres in the U.S. and Canada, where safety regulations make it mandatory for electrical and electronic products to be certified by a nationally accredited Certification Body in Canada, and a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory in the USA - such as QPS.

The QPS mark will benefit customers in businesses across North America. They will now be able to take advantage of our powerful HD condition monitoring technology also in Ex environments, where it is particularly important that production-critical equipment works properly because of the risks associated with potential breakdowns,” said Ron Kittle, Managing Director of SPM Instrument USA.

For installations in potentially explosive areas, the DuoTech Ex accelerometers can be used with an SPM transducer Ex interface, enabling the connection of non-hazardous area measuring equipment to intrinsically safe DuoTech Ex accelerometers located in Ex zones. The Ex interfaces are available in single or multi-channel versions with carefully shielded electronics and low capacitance, providing excellent range and EMC performance. They come with screw holes or DIN-rail clip for easy and flexible mounting, and can be installed in a non-hazardous area, or in suitable enclosures in Zone 2.
